We are one of the seven incubations centres of the Directorate for Entrepreneurship and General Studies (DE&GS), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Strategically situated around Nigeria, these incubation centres are the mechanisms through which the Directorate help NOUN students discover their creativity, take initiative, utilise possibilities, and acquire lifelong entrepreneurial skills. They also help the directorate provide such skills and services to the general community through training, consultancy, and research.

About Us 

NCIC is domiciled at the mega study centre, Abuja Model Study Centre (Dutse Alhaji), in the heart of the federal capital and metropolitan city of Abuja.

With an understanding of our unique Geo-political locality, we strive to harness both human and material resources the region is richly blessed with, to solve societal challenges through entrepreneurship coaching.

We are therefore responsible for nurturing budding entrepreneurs and students from all over the North Central region of the country. This includes the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the following states: Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Nassarawa, Plateau, and Niger.

Functions and Activities

NCIC strives to achieve its mandate through the following core functions and activities:

  • Yearly Entrepreneurship Week

Our entrepreneurship education span: development of innovative ideas, market research, business management, human relations, marketing strategy, financial literacy, business communication, record keeping, E-business and digital marketing, business sustainability, writing business plan/proposal for sponsorship and business registration.

Mechanism for Action

The mission of the Directorate for Entrepreneurship and General Studies of the University is to “To provide functional cost-effective flexible learning which adds life-long value to student’s entrepreneurial initiative, creativity, research, and innovation”.

In line with the above, the focus of NCIC is on meeting the sustainable development goals (SDGs) so as to help achieve the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and beyond.

Student idea presentation is measured against any of the 17 SDG Goals:

I.             No poverty

ii.             Zero hunger (hunger and food security)

iii.            Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages (containing severe

                diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, polio, spread HIV/AIDS)

iv.             Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.

v.              Gender equality

vi.             Ensure access to water and sanitation for All.

vii.            Affordable and clean energy (energy in various forms, especially electricity)

viii.           Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work for All.

ix.             Industry, innovation, and infrastructure (infrastructure development such as

                water management, transport, energy and information communication

                technology and health education)

x.              Reduce inequality (promote resources and expertise)

xi.             Sustainable cities and communities

xii.            Responsible consumption and production

xiii.           Urgent action to combat climate change and its impact.

xiv.           Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources.

xvii.          Partnerships for the Goal (Develop multi-stakeholder partnerships to share

knowledge, expertise, technology, and financial support

Delivery of entrepreneurial education to our students, Residents, and non-Resident Incubatees is facilitated through both regular and virtual means, using our well-equipped Virtual Lab., and Mentorship spaces.We also have a fully equipped and well-funded welding laboratory for enterprising students and inductees.

Additionally, from Abuja and its environment, we have the unique advantage of pooling from the wide range of available human and material resources from NOUN and other academic, professional and financial institutions around the capital city.
